A little look into circlips

Specialising in spring type components and fasteners, ours is a company that seeks to provide top quality products at reasonable prices. By using our online store, selecting and purchasing the component of your choice becomes a simple matter. Circlips in particular are a favourite amongst our customers and are available in both regular and heavy-duty styles.

Also known as retaining rings and snap-rings, circlips are basically flattened pieces of circular spring steel that find use in keeping various components in housings or on shafts. Even though they come in a myriad of styles and sizes, there are essentially only two types. The first is internal, which is generally utilised to hold a bearing or seal in its bore. The second is external, those used to find elements on the shafts.

Circlips are recognised by construction and type, with internal, external, wire, machined or stamped being examples. With the exception of machined and wired variants, circlips typically possess tangs or ears to accommodate special pliers. This way, you can remove and install them without having to worry too much about damages.

The most commonly used clip is stamped steel and it also happens to be the most exploited. During the manufacturing stage, a chamfer is created on one side and a square, sharp side is made on the other. Whenever you install the circlip, the sharp section has to face away from the thrust’s direction. You can easily feel this edge with your finger, meaning that there are no reasons why you should get it mixed up with anything else.

At Caleb Components in addition to our circlips we can offer you a wide array of other merchandise. Thanks to the inexpensive nature of our clips, you can simply remove one and replace it at no great cost. This makes them very handy tools.
