Use of a Tool Clip:
For attaching an object with a cylindrical profile to a flat or curved surface, tool holder clips are the standard sprung metal fastener to use. Also commonly known as Terry Clips (at least in the Uk), these metal tool clips have remained popular for decades due to their robust design and simple operation, as well as their adaptability.
As the name suggests, one of the most common uses for these items is as tool storage spring clips, ie they can be used to attach various hand tools to tool boards, tool cases, and other surfaces. The flat section on the reverse of Terry tool clips is drilled to accommodate a fixing screw, which in the case of a tool board will be used to secure the spring clip to the board facing outward. Any tool part with a round cross section – say, a drill bit or the shaft of a hammer – can then be pressed between the jaws of the tool storage clip, which will spring back and hold it in place. For all but the heaviest hand tools, additional support is seldom needed.
Aside from making fine tool storage clips, Terry spring clips excel in any situation where it is necessary to retain a cylindrical object. The aluminium frames of structures like gazebos and trampoline enclosures frequently make use of tool storage spring Terry clips thanks to their light weight and ease of use. We have found that for Terry clips stainless steel is the optimal material, as they may be used out of doors or in other harsh environments. Using stainless steel clips means you don’t have to worry about issues with corrosion.
