What are the different kinds of circlips?

Our area of expertise has been and still is to this day, the supplying of high quality spring fasteners for our customers. Circlips are amongst them and although small, these components are handy for a wide array of applications. Reasonably priced and coming in a multitude of sizes, ours are some of the finest models available.

Circlip fasteners take on the visage of an open-ended, flexible ring that is comprised of metal. One will be needed for the majority of jobs that require a part to pivot, turn or spin, where a bearing is in use. They fit onto a groove that lays on a shaft’s exterior or lie inside of a bore. The circlips function as a sort of load-bearing shoulder that holds and positions mechanical parts that are being used.

One type of circlip is the grip ring. Similar to external clips, they fit onto shafts. The main difference here is that it’s not necessary for them to sit in a groove. The tighter grip that they possess means they won’t open as much as standard clips do, instead remaining very stable whilst in use.

Inverted circlips are another variety of the component. They are a kind of tapered section circlip, but their lugs have been inverted, hence the name. These variants are utilised when the standard lugs would halt any required movements or mechanisms. To both remove and install them, special pliers are a practical tool to use.

At Caleb Components we stock an impressive collection of circlips and accessories. There are both internal and external variants available in a wide array of sizes. Additionally there are various lug options to choose from.

Our product range also includes a selection of circlip pliers. They come in a wide range of sizes to ensure they are suitable for the clips and lugs you have chosen.
