How to measure Circlips…

Here at Caleb Components we supply both External and Internal Circlips.

External Circlips are designed to be fitted onto shafts with grooves, and Internal Circlips are designed to be fitted into bores with grooves.

Finding the correct size can be difficult sometimes, so here is how to find the correct size…

External Circlips (DIN 471 / D1400) are always measured by the shaft size the Circlip is fitting on to. For example, if you need a Circlip to fit a 40mm shaft, you will need to purchase a 40mm External Circlip. If you don’t know the shaft size and you already have an existing Circlip, measure the INSIDE diameter of the Circlip and we can find the correct Circlip for you.

Internal Circlips (DIN 472 / D1300) are always measured by the bore size the Circlip is fitting in to. For example if you need a Circlip to fit in to a 40mm bore, you will need to purchase a 40mm Internal Circlip. If you don’t know the bore size and you already have an exisiting Circlip, measure the OUTSIDE diameter of the Circlip and again, we can find the right size of Circlip for you.
