Useful information regarding spring tension pins

The purpose of our company is to provide our clients with high-end components that won’t let them down. Included within our stock are spring tension pins, products designed to hold relative machine parts in place. Available in a multitude of sizes and at reasonable rates, it’s always wise to consider investing in our products.

The tension pin possesses a body diameter that is larger than that of the hole in which it will be installed, with a chamfer on one or both its ends. The pin’s spring action characteristics permit it to compress as it assumes the hole’s diameter. The force that is applied against the hole’s wall retains it. As such, the product is classified as a self-retaining fastener.

The reason why the outer diameter of a spring tension pin has to be larger than the hole is that it creates friction. Engineers are able to adjust this friction by either changing the size of the hole or the pin’s diameter. The former is the reason why the components come in such a large array of sizes.

Slotted spring tension pins are our speciality. They are comprised of a single coil of stainless or spring steel. They also come equipped with an open slot that is wide enough to allow the pin to reduce its diameter as it’s placed into the appropriately sized hole. Typically, slotted variations come in a heavy-duty form known as ISO 8752.

Care must be taken when working with these components. The wrong duty can result in lateral movement. In addition, installing a pin that is too rigid in an easily damaged host material can cause the hole to deform, resulting in the pin becoming tapered over time.

At Caleb Components we supply ISO 8752 slotted spring tension pins to every customer who is in need of them. As experts we are rather knowledgeable on the merchandise we sell; we can assist with any queries. Additionally, if you request one, a technical specification sheet shall be provided.
