Belleville Washers can also be known as Disc Springs or Conical Washers.

They have the unique advantage of offering a high force in a confined space compared with that of a coiled type Compression Spring.

Belleville Washers are produced to DIN 2093 standards and can be made from Carbon Spring Steel, Stainless Steel or more bespoke materials such as Inconels.

Split Cotter Pins – Finding the right size!

Finding the correct size Split Cotter Pin can be tricky, but in fact it’s really simple!

Split Cotter Pins are always listed by the hole size they are fitting in to. For example, if you had a 4mm hole, you would need a 4mm Split Cotter Pin. The outside diameter of the Pin is always made slightly smaller than the hole size, this is so it can fit into the hole with ease.

To measure the length of a Split Cotter Pin, simply measure from the under the head of the Pin to the end of the SHORTEST leg. If say this measures approx 25mm, you will need a 25mm long Split Cotter Pin.

If you are still having difficulty finding the correct size Cotter Pin, don’t worry, we can help you find exactly what you need. Please don’t hesitate to contact us.

How to measure External Circlips…

There’s two easy methods when it comes to measure External Circlips.

  1. External Circlips are always listed by shaft size. For example if you have a 30mm shaft you will need a 30mm External Circlip.
  2. Or, if you have an existing External Circlip to hand, simply measure the OUTSIDE edge of one side, to the INSIDE edge of the opposite side. Be sure to measure the widest part of the Circlip.
