    DIN 6799 Fasteners

DIN 6799 is the standard DIN specification for E-Clips (also known as ‘E’ type circlips). They make up the D1500 series of fasteners.

    How are they used?

They are inserted on to the side of a shaft, into a groove. They do not contain lugs, meaning circlip pliers do not always need to be used, making for an easier installation.

What materials are available for these parts?

    • Carbon Spring Steel
    • 420 Stainless Steel
    • 316 (A4) Stainless Steel
    • Beryllium Copper
    • Inconel
    • Titanium

    Where can I purchase E-Clips?

    Directly from our website.

Purpose of a Split Cotter Pin

A Split Cotter Pin is a simple fastening device to prevent parts being released off the end of a shaft. Alternatively, they can be very useful to prevent nuts coming undone off a threaded fastener by simply drilling through nut and bolt. The outside diameter of the pin is made marginally smaller than the hole size to give easy fit. Once inserted the legs are bent over in opposite directions to complete the fastening.

They can also be used in conjunction with Clevis Pins, as shown below.

We offer Split Cotter Pins in two materials, Mild Steel (with a bright zinc plate finish) or A2 Stainless Steel.

    Shakeproof Washers – UK Distributor

We are on of the UK’s leading distributors of External and Internal Shakeproof Washers.

Shakeproof Washers contain a serrated edge which enables is to be held in place by biting into the surface. They are used in applications where there are fastenings with a larger head which will resist the force of the washer being compressed as well as holding the surface.

These Washers are available to purchase directly through our online store.

Bright Zinc Plate & Zinc-Yellow Plate

Here at Caleb Components, we can offer a wide range of our non-threaded fasteners in a bright zinc plate or zinc-yellow finish.

This plating is most commonly used as a corrosion resistance against rain-water, which extends the products life.

The process of bright zinc plating:

    1. The part is thoroughly cleaned.
    2. The part is then electroplated using a electrolytic solution which contains zinc. The layer of zinc is then deposited onto the products surface.
    3. Then, the part goes through the ‘passivation’ process, to help improve its corrosion resistance, and add colour to the parts plating. For example, clear, yellow or black.
    4. For high-tensile parts, a de-embrittlement process may be applied post treatment, which helps to prevent parts becoming brittle after plating.
    5. A sealing coat can also be added to the part at the end of the process, to also help with the corrosion resistance.
