FAQ: How to measure Internal Circlips…

Measuring Internal Circlips could not be easier…

Internal Circlips are always listed by the BORE size they’re fitting in to. For example, we list a 10mm Internal Circlip, this will suit a bore size of 10mm, with a groove of 10.4mm.

Alternatively, measure from the outside edge of the widest part of the Internal Circlip, to the inside edge on the opposite size. This will also indicate the size of Circlip you need. For example, if this measures 30,, you will need a 30mm Internal Circlip. PLEASE NOTE! This method of measuring only applies to DIN 472 Metric Circlips and not Imperial sizes.

We are always on hand to help with technical advice in finding the right circlip for you. Call us today on 0121 661 6664 or email us: sales@calebcomponents.com

Purchasing these Circlips is super easy. You can buy Carbon and Stainless Steel Internal Circlips online.

FAQ: What is a Split Cotter Pin used for?

A split cotter pin is one of the most popular types of engineering pins.

It’s main purpose is very simple, they are simply used to secure other fasteners in place for example a clevis pin. It can also be used a low-tech shear pin.

These pins are inserted into the hole, and the legs of the pin are bent back in opposite directions to secure it in place.

All metric split cotter pins are produced to the DIN 94 standard, and most commonly manufactured with a bright zinc plate corrosive resistant finish.
